The Vatican has opened its own homeless shelter that can host up to 34 people a night just steps from St Peter’s Square.

Pope Francis’s chief charity guru, Monsignor Konrad Krajewski, inaugurated the shelter on October 7 by celebrating Mass for the first guests and volunteers.
