Report: Refugee dies trying to enter Channel Tunnel

It is being reported an African refugee has been killed near the Calais entrance to the Channel Tunnel.

A young African migrant was killed last night by a freight train near the Channel Tunnel entrance in France, according to reports.

At least 10 people have died trying to cross over to Britain from Calais since the refugee crisis erupted.

A spokesman for Eurotunnel in France confirmed that paramedics and police were called after someone was found unconscious near the railway tracks.

He said: “We cannot confirm the death of someone – we don’t have the authority to do that.

“But I can confirm that someone was found unconscious near the tracks of the French terminal last night.

“The police and paramedics were called and they came immediately.”

The BBC said the migrant was a teenage boy believed to have been aged between 15 and 17 and from east Africa.
