China evacuates tens of thousands ahead of typhoon
Chinese authorities have evacuated tens of thousands of people, cancelled scores of trains and flights and closed seaside resorts as a super-typhoon heads toward the south-eastern coast.
China’s national weather service said Typhoon Chan-hom – with wind gusts up to 125 mph – is expected to make landfall soon at Fujian or Zhejiang province, and has issued its highest-level alert.
