Pistorius's brother remains in hospital

Oscar Pistorius’s older brother remains in intensive care in a South African hospital following a car crash last week.

The Pistorius family said in a statement today that Carl Pistorius is still on a ventilator in the ICU in the capital Pretoria “due to the serious nature of the injuries sustained in the accident” though he is “showing signs of improvement”. They did not give details of his injuries.

Carl reportedly suffered multiple fractures in a head-on collision on a highway in northern South Africa on Friday.

Oscar Pistorius is due to return to a Pretoria courthouse tomorrow for the start of final arguments in his murder trial for shooting his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp, dead at his home on Valentine’s Day last year.
