Turkey shoots down Syrian warplane

Turkey has shot down a Syrian warplane over the border between the two countries.

Turkey says its fighter jets intercepted the plane after it crossed into Turkish airspace.

But the Syrian government says the plane never entered Turkish territory.

It's describing it as an "act of blatant agression".

The plane was hit as it bombed rebels who were attempting to capture a border post near the town of Kassab in northwestern Syria.
