Lava flowing from the Pacaya volcano near Guatemala City has prompted the evacuation of people living nearest the crater, Guatemala authorities said today.

Lava flowing from the Pacaya volcano near Guatemala City has prompted the evacuation of people living nearest the crater, Guatemala authorities said today.

Alejandro Maldonado, director of the National Office for Disaster Reduction, said lava is flowing down one side of the volcano, but he did not say how many people have been evacuated.
