Founder of breast implant company jailed for fraud
The founder of a French company that sold faulty breast implants to women across the world has been jailed for four years.
Jean-Claude Mas was found guilty of fraud after his firm PIP sold implants containing sub-standard silicone gel, causing many to rupture.
The product used was industrial-grade silicone, rather than the medical-grade variety.
Elizabeth Cathey paid to get hers removed as soon as she heard there might be problems. She discovered her implants had leaked, and she is still fighting for compensation.
"We hate him - he's jeopardised our health, our lives. The last couple of years have been absolutely horrendous."
