Tsunami alert lifted after earthquake hit Japan's coast

A tsunami alert following an earthquake off Japan's east coast, near to were the Fukushima nuclear plant is located, has been lifted.

The quake measured 7.3 - and waves reached up to 40 centimetres in some areas , little damage was caused.

Japan's Meteorological Agency had earlier warned that a small tsunami could reach the eastern coast following the tremor in the Pacific Ocean.
