Pakistan frees top taliban prisoner

Pakistani officials have released their highest-ranking Afghan Taliban prisoner in a bid to kick-start Afghanistan’s struggling peace process.

Mullah Baradar, the former deputy commander of the Taliban, was freed today, a Pakistani intelligence official and a security official said.
