Football fan invades pitch - from above

A football match had to be stopped recently when a parachutist landed on the pitch.

The man landed with some style while Salisbury City entertained Chester FC.

The away side's Danny Higginbotham - who has played for Premier League sides Manchester United and Stoke City - couldn't believe what was happening.

He wrote on Twitter: "The most bizarre thing I have ever seen on a football pitch happened today.

“Half way through the second half out of nowhere a parachutist landed on the pitch.

"No idea where he was supposed to land but he hit the ground hard. #bizarre."

But the 1,000-strong crowd at the Raymond McEnhill Stadium in Wiltshire, south west England, seemed to enjoy the unusual incident and applauded the parachutist as he made his way off the field.
