The 19-year-old has been charged with 30 federal counts stemming from the April 15 attack which killed three people, including an 8-year-old boy.
Columnist with the Boston Globe Newspaper Kevin Cullen, said it is just aggressive marketing.
"Rolling Stone is obviously accomplishing exactly what it wanted, it has people in Ireland talking about it," he said.
"It's classic marketing, I actually read the blurbs of their so-called block buster story that is contained in that issue
"Every five points they made in that issue I knew all about, it's pretty old news in Boston."
