Syrian rebels seize border crossing with Israel
Rebel forces in the Syrian civil war have seized a border crossing with Israel in the Golan Heights.
The move comes a day after the rebels were forced to retreat from the key city of Qusayr under a 17-day siege by government forces.
The remote borderpost at Quneitra is the only crossing between Israel and Syria and is seen as strategic to the area.
Meanwhile, the US has strongly condemned the siege of Qusayr by Bashar al-Assad's forces.
In a statement, Washington called for Hezbollah fighters from Lebanon involved in the siege to be withdrawn, saying Assad had relied on outside help to seize the city.
Talks on reaching a settlement between the two sides have stalled and will not take place this month as planned.
