Love it or hate it, Marmite is back in New Zealand

"Marmageddon" has ended in New Zealand.

Supermarkets are now being restocked with the product after the country came to a Marmite standstill following the Christchurch earthquake in February 2011.

The natural disaster affected the nation's only Marmite factory and put a stop to production of the tasty spread.

Announcing the end of Marmageddon, Sanitarium - the food company which produces the country's Marmite – said "You've rationed, you've scraped, you've survived Marmaggedon - and now the wait is over!

"From March 20, Marmite is back on supermarket shelves across NZ. Thanks for not freaking out and for waiting patiently for the black gold's return."

Other yeast extract spreads are available, we hasten to add.
