San Fran bans public nakedness

Public nakedness has been banned in San Francisco.

The US city's Board of Supervisors have narrowly voted, six-to-five, in favour of a public safety order against people exposing themselves on public transport, streets and pavements.

Supervisor Scott Wiener has introduced the ban following a number of complaints from residents, and he believes it is "appropriate" to bring in some "minimal standards of behaviour".

He said: "The Castro, and San Francisco in general, is a place of freedom, expression and acceptance. But freedom, expression and acceptance does not mean anything goes under any circumstances.

"Our public spaces are for everyone, and as a result it's appropriate to have some minimal standards of behaviour."
