Fan lands manager's job thanks to video game

A soccer fan has landed a managerial job based on his experience from playing video game 'Football Manager'.

Vugar Huseynzade, a 21-year-old Swedish-based student, joined FK Baku as an assistant after impressing bosses with his soccer knowledge thanks to the game, and he has now been promoted to be a part of the first-team coaching setup, ESPN reports.

Some reports have even suggested Vugar landed the job ahead of more high-profile candidates such as former French international soccer star Jean-Pierre Papin, who won 54 caps for his national team and has managed French giants Lens.

The video game sees players take control of a soccer team of their choice as they aim to win trophies and become the best manager in the history of the game.

'Football Manager 2013' is available now for PC and Mac.
