The EU is "ready to act" if Spain seeks a sovereign bailout, according to the EU's economics chief Olli Rehn.

Mr Rehn was speaking after talks in Madrid with the Spanish Prime Minister, Mariano Rajoy, amid growing speculation that Spain is on the verge of seeking a bailout.
