Gunmen have shot dead three anti-al-Qaida fighters manning a security checkpoint north of Baghdad, Iraqi officials said.

A police officer said the fighters of the Sahwa, or Awakening, movement were attacked early today near the town of Dujail, 50 miles north of Baghdad. Two other Sahwa members were injured.
