Tsunami warnings issued after an earthquake near the Pacific coast have been cancelled.

A 7.6 magnitude quake struck off the coast of Costa Rica earlier.

Warnings were originally in place from Mexico to Peru, but they have been dropped.

Power and communications were knocked out, roads split open and buildings damaged in Costa Rica.
