NHS bans metal paper clips

The UK National Health Service has banned "dangerous" metal paper clips.

The NHS made the decision to prohibit the metal stationary item from being used in Manchester after a member of staff at the Manchester NHS Trust cut their finger while using one.

In a note to staff, the organisation said: "Due to recent incidents, NHS Manchester has decided to immediately withdraw the use of metal paper fasteners."

The memo also featured a picture of a paper clip to ensure there was no confusion and stated that in light of the new rules, the metal fasteners must be "carefully disposed of immediately".
