Third time unlucky for lightning-strike man

A US man has been struck by lightning for a third time.

Bob Edwards, of Charlotte, North Carolina, is recovering after being struck by a bolt again, disproving the age-old saying that "lightning never strikes twice".

Bob was leaving a restaurant when he was hit, describing the incident as like being smacked in the chest with a hammer after seeing a purple flash.

Lightning struck Bob - who was revived three times - on exactly the same road in 1997 and again in 2009.
