Nine killed in Baghdad bomb attacks
A series of bombs around Iraq’s capital have killed nine people and wounded more than 40 today, police said.
The deadliest strike came at dawn in the Sunni city of Taji, just north of Baghdad. Two cars blew up outside a government office, damaging nearby homes and killing five people and wounding 18, officials said.
A few hours later, a police patrol hit a roadside bomb in a Shiite neighbourhood in southern Baghdad. Police and hospital officials said one person was killed and six wounded.
A car bomb exploded outside a market in a Shiite area in western Baghdad later. Authorities said three people were killed and 17 injured.
