101-year-old man runs London Marathon
A 101-year-old man has completed the London Marathon.
Fauja Singh, of east London - who was thought to be the oldest person taking part in the race – managed the feat in seven hours and 49 minutes.
But Fauja has revealed the 26.2-mile race will be his last marathon because he is aiming to run in shorter races such as half-marathons and five-kilometre events to achieve even faster times.
Khushwant Singh, Fauja's biographer, is quoted by the Hindustan Times as saying: "He has hung up his shoes for full marathons on a high note. Hat's off to the man. I salute the 'Fauja Spirit'. He is an icon.
"I kept track of him during the London Marathon on Sunday. He got huge attention during the event."
