$900,000 price tag for US' smallest town

The smallest town in the US has been sold for $900,000.

Buford - which contains a three-bedroom house, gas station and a convenience store - was snapped up in an online auction which lasted just 11 minutes and attracted bidders from 46 countries.

The winning bidder said in a statement: "Owning a piece of property in the US has been my dream."

Buford was put on the market by its only resident Don Sammons, and he admitted to being "happy" as well as "sad" at the sale.

He said: "I'm happy and I'm sad all at once. But I'm more happy than sad because this is all I wanted. I can continue and start the next chapter of my life."
