Winning bidder chickens out of presidential McNugget purchase

An eBay bidder who won a £5,000 (€6,000) chicken nugget resembling George Washington has chickened out of the deal.

Seller Rebekah Speight has confirmed the unknown bidder has backed out of the opportunity to purchase the three-year-old item, which resembles the former US president, and she admitted the potential buyer was "very sorry" for refusing to pay up.

But Rebekah – who is aiming to raise £15,000 for the members of the Family Worship Center in Sioux City - is now able to offer the foodstuff to the second highest bidder under eBay regulations.
