Woman dies after church gun tragedy

The daughter of a Florida pastor who was accidentally shot in the head in a church has died in hospital.

Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office said 20-year-old Hannah Kelley was pronounced dead at Bayfront Medical Centre.

Ms Kelley had been in hospital since February 12, when she was struck in the head by a bullet at Grace Connection Church in St Petersburg, where her father Tim Kelley is pastor.

Moises Zambrana was in a small closet showing his gun to another church member - said by the St Petersburg Times to be Ms Kelley’s fiance Dustin Bueller – who was interested in buying a firearm, when the tragedy happened.

Mr Zambrana reportedly removed the magazine from the 9mm Ruger weapon but did not know that a round was still in the chamber. The gun went off, firing a bullet through a wall and hitting Ms Kelley in the head.

The sheriff’s office said detectives were still investigating the shooting and no charges had been filed.
