More than 300 dead in European cold snap

The death toll from the cold snap which has gripped Europe for more than a week has surpassed 300.

Last night, French authorities found the body of a homeless man who had frozen to death, bringing to at least 306 the number of people known to have died in the sub-zero temperatures.
