The way we tell the time around the world could be about to change as 190 countries are to vote later on whether to drop Greenwich Mean Time.

Some scientists don't think it is accurate, with a decision needed every few months whether or not to add "extra seconds" to keep us in line with the Sun.

Space Physicist Martin Archer has said it could be replaced by a more precise method - the "Atomic Clock".

Mr Archer said: "If you take an Atomic Clock, it has got a lot of caesium atoms in there, they measure the very specific transition between energy levels.

"It measures the light that comes out of it, so you see all these wiggles and once you get nine and a bit billions of those, than that is a second."
