Man kills family, then himself

A man who was estranged from his wife killed her, their child and two in-laws before leaping to his death from the balcony of their sixth-floor apartment which he had apparently set on fire, Italian police said today.

Police officials, speaking on state and private television, said post-mortem examinations would determine if the four victims were dead in the flat in Trapani, western Sicily, before the blaze started.
