Absent-minded US parent leaves child in supermarket trolley

Police have revealed a US man left his six-month-old baby unattended in a trolley at a supermarket.

Steven Wilcox, of Kentucky, only realised his mistake when he had driven three streets away from the store.

The little one was left in the trolley for three minutes before a couple noticed the tot and alerted the police, who are not going to charge the father.

Kevin Grimes, a Nicholasville Police Department officer, said: "He was totally distraught about it.

“He realised he had made a huge mistake, as well as we realised in this situation that people do make mistakes. It was an accident and fortunately it turned out very good this time and in this situation."
