Public sector staff strike in Britain

The biggest strike in Britain for over 30 years got under way today with schools, hospitals, courts, transport and government hit by a walkout involving up to two million workers.

Nurses, paramedics, cleaners, porters and receptionists at Birmingham Women’s Hospital were among those who walked out at midnight in the row over pensions.
