A dog that was stolen from its British owners five years ago has been found on a bus.

T-Bone, a Staffordshire bull terrier, was snatched from outside the home of Pat Oates and her partner Tony Wellington in 2006 and was feared to have been captured by a gang who wanted to use the pet pooch as a weapon.

However, the couple enjoyed a surprise reunion with their canine companion after the driver of a number 37 bus spotted T-Bone on his vehicle while he made his way between Birmingham City Centre and Solihull, West Midlands.

Vets scanned the dog's microchip and reunited him with his stunned owner.

Ms. Oates said: "We never in a million years thought we would ever see him again - he had vanished completely. I just broke down in tears. It is like having your child back - we are complete again."
