Kenya troops 'set for Somalia push'

Around 400 Kenyan soldiers have arrived at the border town of Liboi to prepare for a push toward a key Somali town, reports say.

The soldiers arrived with helicopters, light aircraft and other equipment, a Kenyan official said.

They were sent to help take Afmadow, a Somali town that has been heavily fortified by al Qaida-linked insurgents.

Kenyan forces entered Somalia last month and hope to take the port city of Kismayo, which provides the bulk of the revenues for Somalia’s al-Shabab militia. Afmadow is on the way to Kismayo.
