Benefits row prompts superglue protest
A naked British man superglued himself to a desk in a protest over benefits.
Ian Robinson, 43, attached himself to the office furniture at Bridlington Job Centre in the UK after becoming annoyed he hadn't received any Disability Living Allowance or motability benefit, despite suffering from what he called "chronic" pain due to arthritis.
The former postman told the Bridlington Free Press newspaper: "I feel that the people who are paying for this country’s economic woes are the sick and those in pain. A society is judged on how it treats the sick and leaving them without disability benefit is criminal."
Mr Robinson – who is due in court later this month charged with a public order offence - had redness to his forearms following the stunt, but otherwise escaped relatively unscathed.
The UK Department for Work and Pensions refused to comment on the incident, but explained: “We can confirm that an incident took place at Bridlington Job Centre and that the police attended.”
