Hospital for 'hottest chilli' contestants

Two people in Scotland have been hospitalised following a competition to eat the "world's hottest chilli" at a restaurant in Edinburgh.

Emergency services were called to Kismot restaurant in St Leonards Street - which insists all competitors sign a legal disclaimer - after some people started to faint, vomit and fall to the floor in agony following the event, in which those taking part attempt to eat the Kismot Killer curry.

A spokesman for the Scottish Ambulance service said: "We would urge the organisers to review the way in which this event is managed in future in order to avoid another situation where emergency ambulances are required to treat their customers."

In previous years, the Kismot Killer has left people with nosebleeds and even caused one elderly man to be hospitalised.
