Helicopter rescues Cambodian temple tourists

Foreign tourists trapped by flash floods while visiting a centuries-old temple in northern Cambodia have been evacuated by helicopter.

Nearly 200 tourists were moved from the 10th-century Banteay Srey temple to high ground before being flown to a nearby town by three helicopters.

An official said the group included tourists from Britain, South Korea, the United States, France, and Russia.

The temple is just 20 miles from the Angkor Wat temple complex, one of Asia’s greatest landmarks.

The flooding also forced thousands of local residents to abandon their homes for high ground.
