Thieves say sorry for washing dog in man's home

A man returned to his house to find burglars had washed their dog inside his home.

Roderick Ward discovered a camera with pictures of the burglars treating his property in Newton County, America, like a pooch grooming parlour - and they also celebrated a birthday in his abode and left half a cake, WSBTV reports.

Roderick - who found a canine collar on the floor - said: "There was dog hair everywhere so I was like, 'Somebody washed the dog in my house!' I just couldn't believe it."

The two thieves apologised for their actions, and as a result Roderick did not press charges.
