Burglar cooks dinner at restaurant break-in

A man broke into a fast food restaurant - and started cooking his own dinner.

Hachem Gomez was arrested on a felony burglary charge after breaking into Mr. Beef and Pizza in Mt. Prospect, Illinois, where he damaged a cash register, poured himself a drink and started to cook chicken and chips using a microwave, according to police who saw the surveillance footage.

There was no evidence the 19-year-old man - who has no previous criminal record - was under the influence of drink or drugs at the time of the crime, the Daily Herald newspaper reports.

He is due to appear in court later this month.
