Pub bans family for ordering diet drink

A family have been banned from a British pub for life for ordering diet lemonade.

Jenny Bessant suggested The Nutley Arms should get some of the drink in for their customers who are watching their weight after she was told they did not stock it - but three days later she was sent a letter asking that her and her husband, as well as their two children never to return to the establishment.

She explained: "I was absolutely flabbergasted. I asked the barman to ask the landlord if they could get some sugar-free lemonade.

"Then I got a letter saying the landlord didn't appreciate being dictated to."

But landlord Nick Dimopoulos backed up his bar manager Simon Pearce's decision, saying Jenny was "not very polite" when she made the suggestion.

He added: "It's just the manner in which she commented that we didn't stock it.

"It was not very polite or family friendly."
