Nine-year-old attempts solo school run

A nine-year-old US boy has crashed a car while trying to drive it to school.

Brandon Brown grabbed the keys from his mum's purse and started driving the motor through his hometown of Alexandria, Louisiana, unbeknown to his mother, before crashing into two telegraph poles and fleeing to a nearby hospital.

His grandmother Christine Armstrong recognised the car as she drove past and stopped to see what was happening.

She explained: “I stopped, and I recognised the car, and I looked inside, and the people up there told me, ‘The little boy did it.' ”

Brandon, who admitted he had done wrong, was put in the back of a police car before his parents collected him.
