Bat's not good: Churchgoers flee poo problem

British-based worshippers have been driven out of their own church by bats.

Services have been cancelled at Saxon church, St Hilda’s, north Yorkshire, after the congregation were subjected to bat poo and urine hitting them during services.

Environmental Health officers were called after one woman fell ill when she helped to clear up the mess.

Warden Liz Cowley, 55, told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “People can’t worship while bats rain droppings and urine over them. Services have had to be cancelled.”

A licence to remove the bat roost was granted in 2008, but it was later revoked leaving the churchgoers powerless to kick out their unwanted guests.
