Supermarket worker stung by scorpion hidden in bananas

A British supermarket employee was stung by a scorpion when he unloaded bananas.

William Clark, 48, was struck by the creature as he unpacked the fruit, which had come from Colombia, in his local Farmfoods store.

He said: "I was unloading boxes of bananas when I put my hand in and felt a sting.

"I looked and there was the scorpion sitting there. I thought: 'Oh, my God'. It was a painful sting - it lasted about 10 to 15 minutes. At first I thought it was just a bit of glass and then I saw it.

"It came from Columbia. It was a scary experience."

He was taken to hospital after the incident and was later given the all-clear.
