Woman limps away from horror 3,500ft skydive

A British woman has survived a 3,500ft fall with just a broken ankle.

Zoe Sievwight saw both parachutes fail as she plummeted during a horror skydive – and admits that she thought she was going to die.

She said: "I started counting – 1,000, 2,000, 3,000, 4,000 – then I checked my canopy, but it was all tangled. I had to cut away and pull my reserve parachute, but it got tangled up in the main one.

“I looked at the ground and thought that was it, there was nothing else I could do. I didn’t think I was going to make it. I thought I was dead.

“I braced for impact and I don’t really remember what happened after that. There was a bit of shock but I didn’t black out. I was just lying on the ground and I kind of nudged myself into the recovery position.”

The 29-year-old was doing the charity skydive in memory of Cheryl Button, who died of a brain tumour.
