Motivated jobseeker fined for putting up posters
A British jobseeker has been fined £75 (€85.35) for putting posters up.
Daniel Bird, 20, who has been turned down for 300 positions in one year, put up posters around his home town asking potential employees to give him an opportunity - and it worked after Mecca Bingo offered him some work.
His new boss thought the idea showed initiative, however Hull City Council were of a different opinion and fined him £75 under the Antisocial Behaviour Act, the Criminal Damage Act and the Highways Act.
Daniel said: “I am shocked by this. I am not some kind of criminal, just someone who was trying really hard to find a job.
“You see posters all over the city for missing cats and dogs and things.
“Everyone else is proud of me for doing this and I had people speaking to me while I put up the posters saying ‘good on you for being so motivated’.”
