Chinese tot caught by passer-by after 10-storey fall

A Chinese girl is in a critical condition after falling from a window 10 storeys high.

Two-year-old Zhang Fangyu was caught by a passerby after tumbling 100ft from a 10th floor window in the city of Hangzhou, China.

The girl – who had been left unattended by her grandmother, who walked up two flights of stairs to collect laundry – was on the edge of the window for "around two minutes" before eventually falling, eyewitnesses revealed.

An unnamed neighbour told Chinese state news agency Xinhua: "She was clinging to the windowpane and people saw her from underneath before she fell."
