Man lumbered with five-tonne transporter after eBay purchase

A British man has bought a five-tonne airport transporter but doesn't know what to do with it.

Andrew Jones purchased the Maglev magnetic levitation transporter from online auction website eBay for £100 - and he cannot even give it away to museums.

He said: "I had no idea I’d end up with it. We have offered it to various museums since we bought it, but nobody has been able to accommodate it.

"As a result, I’ve got a five-tonne train in the field opposite my house and I’ve now got to find a suitable use for it."

His bid was originally bettered by a £25,000 offer for the transporter, however that fell through leaving Andrew with the machine, which resembles a tube train carriage.

The 60-year-old father of two has described the transporter as an "absolutely tremendous" creation of its time.

He added: "As a British invention of its day I thought it was absolutely tremendous."
