Former Dior designer John Galliano, who is said to have hurled racial insults at three people in a Paris cafe, will face his accusers at his trial today.

The racism claims shocked the fashion world and cost the designer his job.

Galliano’s lawyer, Aurelien Hamelle, said he would be present at the Paris trial.

Galliano, 50, is charged with public insults based on origin, religious affiliation, race or ethnicity and could face up to six months in prison and €22,000 in fines. The verdict is expected at a later date.

A couple claim the designer hurled anti-Semitic insults at them in February, and another woman then came forward with similar claims of insults in October.

Galliano said he was “seeking help” for personal failures. An alcohol test showed he was inebriated.
