Attackers set off two car bombs outside a government compound east of Baghdad today, then stormed the building and took hostages, Iraqi officials said.

Samira al-Shibli, spokeswoman for the Diyala provincial council, said the car bombs went off outside the government compound in Baqouba this morning. The gunmen then stormed into the provincial council headquarters.
