Attackers set off two car bombs outside a government compound east of Baghdad today, then stormed the building and took hostages, Iraqi officials said.

Ten soldiers were killed and 29 other people injured when a suicide bomber blew up his booby-trapped car outside an Iraqi army battalion headquarters in the country’s east today.

Gunmen pulled factory workers off buses north-east of Baghdad and killed 47 of them, a provincial council member said.
