A prominent banker who was credited with modernising Haiti's banking system was fatally shot in his home, police said.

Guiteau Toussaint, 56, was killed on Sunday night by several armed men who broke into his home in Vivy Mitchel, an affluent neighbourhood east of central Port-au-Prince, said Frantz Lerebours, a spokesman for the Haitian National Police.
