Boy receives birthday card five years late

A British boy received a card through the post that was five years late.

Jack Moran, seven, from Cumbernauld, near Glasgow, got the correspondence - which had the words "happy second birthday" on - in time for his seventh birthday, despite being posted five years previously.

The card was thought to have been kept by a rebellious postman - and Royal Mail have since launched an investigation into the incident.

Jack said: "I thought somebody was playing a trick on me because the card was for a two year old.

"My mum and dad checked the date and we found out it was posted five years ago. I can't believe that it has been missing all this time."

Royal Mail confirmed a probe to investigate the postman is set to take place.

A spokesman told the Daily Record newspaper: "We can confirm that there is currently an ongoing investigation into the intentional delay of mail by an ex-employee formerly based at Cumbernauld delivery office."
